Rigid-arm assisted manipulator arms are widely used in the automotive, film, paper and printing, home appliance and electronics manufacturing, machining and casting, food, pharmaceutical and chemical, warehousing and logistics, and new energy industries.
Overview
Suspended track-mounted pneumatic assisted manipulators (also known as track-mounted balancers) are the best solution for achieving “zero ground space occupation” and “large-scale material handling” in modern factory workshops. By suspending the manipulator body on an aluminum alloy or I-beam track system, it allows operators to easily grasp, move, and precisely assemble heavy objects within a specific rectangular area.
Core Functional Mechanisms
The system operates on a Zero-Gravity Balance principle. Using a precision pneumatic control system, the manipulator senses the weight of the load and provides an equal counter-acting force.
Pneumatic Balancing: High-sensitivity valves adjust air pressure in real-time to match the load’s mass.
Multi-Axis Articulation: The arm typically features two or three pivot points, allowing for seamless horizontal and vertical movement within a defined radius.
Overhead Suspension: Mounted on a KBK rail, bridge crane, or a wall-mounted jib, saving valuable floor space in crowded workshops.
Key Technical Features
| Feature | Description |
| Load Capacity | Typically ranges from 50kg to 500kg depending on arm length and air pressure. |
| Working Radius | Standard arms offer a reach of 2m to 4.5m, covering a large workspace. |
| Safety Interlocks | Includes “weight-loss protection” to prevent the arm from snapping upward if a load is accidentally released. |
| End Effectors | Can be equipped with vacuum suctions, mechanical grippers, or magnetic lifters. |
| Rotation | 360° continuous rotation is standard at the main pillar and the tool head. |
Why Choose a Suspended Configuration?
Ergonomic Efficiency: It eliminates 100% of the lifting strain on the operator, significantly reducing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and workplace fatigue.
Space Optimization: Unlike floor-mounted column manipulators, the suspended version leaves the floor clear for AGVs, forklifts, or pedestrian traffic.
High Precision: The rigid arm structure prevents the “swing” or “pendulum effect” common with traditional wire rope hoists, allowing for precise positioning in assembly tasks.
Common Industrial Applications
Automotive Assembly: Precise installation of car doors, seats, dashboards, and batteries where high positioning accuracy is required.
Mechanical Manufacturing: Loading workpieces into CNC machines or moving heavy engine blocks.
Warehouse & Logistics: Rapid palletizing and depalletizing of boxes, bags, or barrels without physical strain.
Fragile Material Handling: Moving large glass panels or solar modules using specialized vacuum end-effectors.
