Rigid-arm assisted manipulator arms are widely used in the automotive, film, paper and printing, home appliance and electronics manufacturing, machining and casting, food, pharmaceutical and chemical, warehousing and logistics, and new energy industries.
Overview
A cable-operated balancer is a lightweight lifting device that uses compressed air as a power source and high-strength steel wire ropes or fiber belts to lift loads. Compared to traditional rigid-arm manipulator arms, it is more flexible and has a larger coverage radius, making it an ideal choice for achieving “weightless” workpiece handling.
Core Working Principle
The cable-operated balancer integrates a sophisticated pneumatic control system. When compressed air enters the cylinder and pushes the piston, the piston drives the cable to rise and fall via a ball screw or drum structure.
- Full-stroke Balancing: It can sense the load weight and automatically compensate, allowing the operator to apply only a minimal force (typically about 1% of the load’s weight) throughout the entire vertical stroke to achieve lifting, lowering, or hovering.
- Floating Characteristics: In a balanced state, the operator can directly grip the workpiece and allow it to float freely up and down by 400mm-1000mm, making it ideal for precision alignment.
Advantages and Technical Specifications
Operational Flexibility:
The cable structure allows for a large horizontal swing range for the load, and with the help of slide rails, three-dimensional coverage can be achieved.
High-frequency handling:
Compared to electric hoists, it offers faster lifting speeds and eliminates the risk of motor overheating, making it suitable for production lines with short cycle times.
High safety:
Equipped with anti-breakage protection (locking in case of accidental breakage) and overload protection.
Precise positioning:
Eliminates the impact of “inching” movements, allowing workpieces to be smoothly stopped at any preset height.
Low maintenance costs:
The pneumatic system has a simple structure, requires no lubricant, and is suitable for cleanrooms.
