Overview
A vacuum sponge manipulator is an intelligent handling system specifically designed for porous, rough, irregular, or creviced workpieces. Unlike traditional rubber suction cups, it utilizes a large-area, high-density sponge pad as a sealing medium, effectively compensating for uneven workpiece surfaces.
Core Technology Principles
This system typically integrates a high-performance multi-stage vacuum generator, utilizing fluid dynamics principles (Venturi effect) to convert compressed air into powerful vacuum suction.
- Sponge Adsorption Technology: Utilizing special industrial sponges with excellent resilience and sealing properties, the sponge deforms according to the workpiece’s surface contours when pressed against it, achieving a firm grip under high-flow-rate vacuum compensation.
- One-Way Valve/Flow Resistance Technology: The suction device is typically equipped with multiple inductive one-way valves. When a portion of the sponge is not in contact with the workpiece (empty suction), the one-way valves automatically close or limit the flow, ensuring that the area in contact with the workpiece maintains sufficient vacuum.

Vacuum Generating Unit: An aluminum alloy body integrates a multi-stage, high-flow-rate vacuum generator, featuring low noise and optimized gas consumption.
Sealing Sponge Gasket: Replaceable design, typically available in different thicknesses (10mm – 50mm) and porosities to accommodate varying friction requirements.
Control Module: Includes a vacuum pressure switch, a quick-release valve (for rapid workpiece release), and a filter.
Connection Interface: Standardized mechanical interface for easy installation on pneumatic robotic arms, gantry robots, or multi-joint collaborative robots.

The foam pad is a consumable item, secured with Velcro or bolts; replacement takes only seconds and requires no disassembly of the entire system.
